Battlefield 1: Classes, horses and more

This is just patently untrue. Let's take a look, for example, at the sales numbers for BF4 shown here. As you can see, BF4 on X360 and in North America alone sold 2.14M units. Add the other console versions and you've got well over 4M sales, and that's just in North America.

Compare that to the Windows version, with a grand total of 0.37M sales in North America. So, for the sake of simplicity, we can say that in North America, only about 1/10 of BF4 sales were on Windows, and that's being conservative.

Now, factor in the steam hardware survey, which you yourself kindly linked. I don't really know to what extent CPU core count affects performance in games like BF4 (or the upcoming BF1, for that matter), but let's assume that dual core CPUs render these games completely unplayable with the developer's original intended levels of destruction (or graphical fidelity, or whatever). According to said survey, that's about half of all steam users.

Now, let's assume that, as with BF4, about .37M people want to buy BF1 on PC in NA. Now, half of these people are going to be outraged, right? They can't play the fancy new BF1 on their PCs because they only have dual core CPUs.

But here's the big headliner: there's no reason for Dice, or EA, or anyone, to give a shit at all. That 50% of .37M represents only 1/20 of their overall sales. That's nothing. And that's being very conservative with the numbers, not to mention things like people with lower-end computers often primarily playing on consoles and thus buying the game on that console platform of their choice instead of their underpowered PC.

I know that was an extremely lengthy explanation, but if you honestly still believe that dual core CPUs are holding the market back then I'm not really sure what else to tell you.
