BBC news have produced a video which features female Dota 2 streamer/semi-pro "istarx"

Lets be honest here, its literally same in every sport and esports are no different. The best solution in my opinion is to have male division, female division and LGBTQ+( no i dont mean it because of skill gap between genders, any gender can beat any gender in any field, that bs gender stereotype must die) divisions entirely seperately and have their own leagues and cups so that it encourages people from different genders to have a better incentive approach to it like traditional sports. If you cram every gender in the same not only the opportunities for different genders become less , men , females and everything in between may not feel comfortable or safe with each other on the same team and i dont want to see random sexism and harassment problems appearing in esports cause that literally the point of having different divisions in traditional sports in the first place, but yes cross gender competitions between these 3 divisions would be awesome. Its just my take imho. But if we can erase the sexism and harassment and homophobic issues then yes having every gender in same divisions, competitions and teams would be super awesome too.
