BDI scenario

Burke had a playroom in the basement, so he would have no problem going there at night.

Why am I to assume that due to having a play room in the basement, that he had no night time fears of being down there?

When my kids were young, our home had a large carpeted finished basement. I turned it into a space for the kids: a tv, sofa, toys, computer, the whole works. Whoever owned the home previously, had put a built-in bar down in the corner of the basement: tiling, cabinets, counter. I turned that into an art area for the kids. I didn't store stuff down there, it wasn't cluttered, no confusing layout, creepy hidden rooms, no windows or doors for anyone to sneak in through. The kids absolutely loved being down there. However, do you think they liked being down there at night? Nope. Often times, at night, I would get "Mom, I left my [insert personal belonging] down in the basement, can you go get it?"

Yet, I am suppose to believe that neither JonBenet or Burke were afraid to go down in the Ramsey's basement at night time. They were 6 and 9yo. Even if Burke wasn't afraid.. JonBenet wasn't? She was just like, yeah, that's a good idea Burke?
