Beauty-Related Pet Peeves

Frequent fasting is something that might alarm a doctor depending on how you do it and how often. My religion fasts, and the main concern on fast days is staying hydrated. Make sure you get enough water, but also enough electrolytes. Another issue is that, depending on how long you're fasting and what you ate last, you can get low blood sugar and get woozy. This doesn't mean that you can't eat lightly, like some salad and fruit, but it can make not eating at all a big deal. It varies a lot, of course, but my mom once nearly got into a car accident because she was fasting.

Obviously, if exercise alone isn't working for someone, then that's bad advice, but it's an effective focus for many people. If I'm sedentary, I'm only supposed to eat 1200 calories to maintain a healthy weight, which I've always found very unpleasant. 1500 is far easier, but makes me fat if I'm not active. Obviously, a sane diet is important, but someone who struggles with their weight when generally eating reasonably will often see a lot of success by focusing on exercise. And I suspect a lot of people do fall into that category. Mostly of the chubby sort though, not the enormous type.

Ooh. I found a fascinating blog post years ago about sizing from the perspective of someone who designs patterns professionally. She presented it as a cross between manufacturing convention and marketing, particularly for sml sizing.
