"Because it's 2015" - Canadian Prime Minister's response on a 50% female cabinet.

No, I'm just calling people hypocrites for caring now purely because gender equality has been brought into it. My point is that clearly people HAVE been elected on merit and apparently that's not good enough because people are fixating on these phantom dudes that didn't get positions they may not have been the most qualified for.

Men can represent women, but men shouldn't be the only ones representing women. Like women shouldn't be the only ones representing men. Gender dynamics are different between BOTH GENDERS and 50 percent representation means equal voices for both genders. This is not a bad thing, and it's not a bad thing if people who are skilled in their field are being hired. This isn't random people off the streets being thrown into a position for a quota. There's no wrong here. There's just a desperation for there to be one.

I'm also AGAIN not talking about abortion! There are other issues other than abortion! Want to talk to me about Texas, where virgins can't get life saving medical scans done due to having an in tact hymen? Because that happens. I've been watching a friend go through with that. Should I throw in how her appealing it didn't work because again, fixation on her hymen and the fact that she's a virgin? And how they went ahead with it after she broke it herself?

Or how PCOS sufferers can have a miserable time getting birth control to control it if they don't have access to the right channels, which can be a huge problem depending on the state and insurance coverage? Those are primarily women's issues and they go unaddressed, and again, have nothing to do with abortion and are purely a fixation on "purity".

I think all of this controversy over it is stupid as hell but if it makes people pay attention to politics, so fucking be it.
