Because of a genetic abnormality and financial burdens, a 21-year-old uses a full set of dentures. This year's 'Dentist Bro of the Year' offers to gift her a full set of implants - and, another kind reddit user offers to help cover any travel expenses if needed. Thankful for you good people!

That's awesome! Good for her and good on him. Really hope she takes him up on it bc resorption is no joke. I went to a dental University to receive treatment with family help as I couldn't afford it. I needed a few fillings and crowns on the lower and had the tops pulled planning to get implants bc they were only $500 ea. I was an absolute fool not doing my own research and am paying for it. The school's treatment plan was to pull the tops and then address the lowers. The appointments were usually 2-3 weeks apart and sometimes 6-8. The treatment took about 2 yrs. I eventually realized they were fixing the lowers first so the student wouldn't have to match it to the uppers. My jaw resorbed significantly through treatment and they never tried to get me on the implant program. I was just a lab rat. Tried to get the top of the line denture from Affordable Dentures. First attempt was misaligned, 2nd was loose. Got a refund but haven't had the funds to go elsewhere. I've had to grow a beard to hide the resorption. I have a ridiculous Sam Elliot stashe to hide my lack of tops. I'm ALWAYS conscious about it when in public and it has made me a shut in. My speech, vocabulary, and social skills have suffered immensely due to a severe lack of social interaction. My mental health has severely declined. The social anxiety contributed to losing the love of my life. 10 yrs. Over. Guess I just needed to get this out to an audience that might empathize a bit. End rant.
