wow, fuck that. i live in a small town with a bunch of hicks too. i'm white, though so i'm not an obvious target for them, but if they scratched below the surface for a second, they'd see i'm entirely opposed to their ideology. i'm not even trying to pass as one of them, they just assume i'm also a hateful moron because i'm among them. as a girl, i'm also super attuned to their repulsive chauvinism, which i see coming from hick girls just as frequently as hick guys. i can't be friends with these people, which leaves me very isolated. i'm at least not the target of hate crime but only because they're so fucking shallow.

i have no idea what to do faced with the sort of violence that gets a 13 year old boy stabbed and it's horrifying to me that you have to navigate that. these people are terrorist pos.
