You know how no one really cares about yelp reviews or reviews on Amazon? It’s the same thing for the beer rating sites. I use untappd to track the beers I’ve had. I’ll use my entries as a reference if I’m having a hard time finding something at Binny’s. I know better than to look at the reviews from everyone else — otherwise it will be, “Buy PBR! Buy PBR!”.

Sometimes I pick a shitty beer and sometimes I don’t. My point is that picking a beer off of others’ opinions is risky. We all enjoy different styles, flavors, etc. My biggest worry is buying the same shitty beer I bought last year because I forgot to log it.

The fun part of enjoying craft beer is to sometimes blindly pick up a six that you’ve never heard of and fall head over heels for it. I enjoy that part.
