I made this as my first blanket, and ended up making 4 for family. It's just sc, but it's double stranded chunky yarn so it works up fast! It really shows how pretty the sc stitch actually is when it's magnified so big.

She recommends size 25 hook since you're using 2 strands of thick yarn (!!), and that's what I used on my first. It was just "too" loose and holey, so I went down for the rest of them. I can't remember what size hook but maybe 20mm? Whatever it was, it felt just right for the double stranding. It was a good introduction to color changing as well, as she teaches you how to work over your ends. I ended up making my ends longer and weaving back in the other direction after working over them. Chunky blankets, being loose, don't hold the ends tightly. It helps to really work them in.
