Being gay in Raleigh?

If being safe and accepted as a gay couple is important to you, NC is a bad bet. It's lawmakers are likely to pass more and more homophobic legislation, especially as Trump continues to stack the courts with far right wing judges. Don't forget that NC is the home of the original "bathroom bill." Also, keep in mind that Christian fundamentalism has a much stronger and broader hold here than it does in Texas (surprising, I know). Despite the right wing religiosity of Texans, I never once had someone directly or indirectly ask me what church I attended or what kind of Christian I was. Here, it is a daily occurrence. It is slightly terrifying.

Maybe by moving here, you could help vote to make NC violate fewer human rights, but you should know what you are getting into. It's pretty much a lateral move, except with taller trees, state taxes, and a more conservative population (excepting Asheville).

(P.S. if you're moving from Dallas because you hate it there - and who could blame you - Raleigh is a lot like Dallas, except with less oil money.)
