Being raised Catholic and exposed to Catholic teaching for all my life and now being exposed to this has sent me to war with myself

It seems to me that nihilism is the basis of monotheistic religion. So, I'm not sure what it is that's giving you fits.

I can only guess what you think nihilism means, in terms of how the nihilistic qualities of reality might affect our view of Giod but nihilism and faith aren't mutually exclusive.

I've been called "the devil", naturally, but I've also been "accused" (lol) of being the most Christian Christian that a Christian has ever met. And I've been told that by more than one Christian, including a Jehovah's Witness that was dragged away from my house by her "door-knocking buddy" and was actually called "a holy person" by an old Catholic woman.

I know this seems strange but I won't go into it unless you actually want to hear it. I'll go into it here or privately - it doesn't matter to me. I think if we do it here, we might get some useful input from a couple of the others but you can PM me, if you prefer.
