And it failed miserably, tbh, FIFA are in a position of power..because they have power and a LOT of levers. FIFA ended up making the threat and aforementioned clubs started begging.

Believe me, if ditching them were a possibility it would already be done.

It's a VERY powerful organization, both clubs and states heavily depend on it because football (or soccer depending on where you live) is an behemoth industry that generates billions directly or indirectly (jersey sales, tv subscriptions..)

And when an organization is that powerful, it's often corrupt, same for close to any big sport org tbh but football is on a planet of its own
