Ben Shapiro likes rap now!

Yeah the massive decline in artists coming from working class backgrounds in the last few decades is something that doesn’t get talked about enough (wonder why).

Everything is so toothless and milquetoast now, even the supposedly ‘searing’ and/or ‘incendiary’ work nowadays always comes from rich kids, and we have to be told it’s incendiary by the rich trust fund kids that completely and utterly dominate media. One of the greatest works that’s totally and throughly from the lower class is Iceberg Slim’s Pimp book, basically his autobiography that served as a universal touchpoint for pimps, street criminals and early rappers and is about as raw as it gets in the truest sense of the word. Nowadays the equivalent we get is some upper-middle class Ivy League-educated minority directing some lame fucking movie with themes about racism, or writing some awful book about their racial awakening after that time they got rejected from their campus sorority.

Raps been dead for a couple years now at least, the culmination of a trend that began like 30 years ago (Common called it in 1994), but I still have hope that the genre is just in its hair metal phase and is yet to have its 90s moment
