Benefits to listening to full album...

This is how I almost always listen to music even through streaming. I’ll just put on Pink Floyd’s The Wall or Metallica’s Master of Puppets and listen to the whole album. My friends call me nuts for doing that, but to me it feels like the best way to experience the music. The artists chose the track list to be ordered the way it is for a reason. It’s supposed to take you through a specific “musical adventure” if you will. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I’m in the mood for a specific song and will just skip around. But for the most part, I enjoy the album experience more.

I guess it also partly comes down to the kind of music you like. My friends generally enjoy a style of music that doesn’t seem like it’s meant to give you that experience. Since I don’t listen to that genre, I could be mistaken, but those albums feel more like a compilation of random songs so maybe that’s why I seem weird to them for listening like that.
