Berkeley resident and Stanford CS master's student Susan J. Fowler was propositioned by her manager on her first day at Uber. He sexually harassed others but HR and upper management did nothing because he was a "high performer". First day at Uber: org had over 25% women. Her last day: only 3% were.

It's just the little shit, and it's mostly just two people.

  1. Person A is known to be a super creep and management doesn't do anything about it because he's a "top performer". Everyday he goes on a fucking two hour long tour to various women's desks to flirt with them for like 30+ minutes each and won't leave. Every time I see him coming around, I head straight for the bathroom or snackroom. One time a bunch of co-workers and I went out for drinks. We were all catching our rides outside, when his arrived. He gave everyone a hug, and leaned in a kiss (!?!?!) with me. I turned my head a lil so instead he gave me a super wet, fat, sticky (from chapstick) kiss on my cheek. Fucking gross.
  2. A couple of people (Person A and B and a few others) in the office have decided that calling me by my name is too much work, so they've been calling me "The Korean". Whenever they see me, it's like "Hello it's the Korean! She's doing Korean things!" Seriously shut the fuck up.
  3. More recently, we all went out to drinks and for some reason we were talking about illnesses. I mentioned how I caught mono twice during college, and Person B yells "WHY ARE YOU HAVING SEX WITH SO MANY MEN?"
  4. Person B also asked me if I've ever seen my male roommate naked during lunch.
  5. I've noticed everyone working in support is a person of color, with one exception. It's mostly female POC (including myself) and the people we work for are all white, fratty men. I hate that dynamic.
  6. I would complain, but I'm afraid... I consider myself to be an assertive person, but I don't feel confident that HR would step up and protect me, considering soooo many people have already complained about Person A. I am also actively trying to leave this company for another less shitty one. And maybe it's my fault. I should stop trying to socialize with them, but at the same time, I want to get along with the people I work with.
