Bernard Hickey: The $1 trillion housing wealth crime of the century

had any or much foresight into the shitstorm

I disagree. I think there was plenty of foresight. Even going back nearly twenty years when I started getting interested in local urban planning matters in Wellington it was clear what we were doing here by artificially constraining development. It was going to have a serious negative impact. This only became clearer and clear as time went on. It’s at extremes right bow with all the red alarms ringing that you could possibly have. Yet we are still barely responding. With the planning stuff what I saw in all the meetings over the years was mostly selfish people who got theirs and then really were so in their own bubble and disconnected from society that they couldn’t care about the negative impacts of constraining supply.
