If Bernie believed in his bullshit he would have pushed to have it implemented in Vermont. That tiny state could have been an incubator for his ideals. But no, in 30 years the dude has done jack-all. And like most liberal elites, he wants to implement his stupid ideas for every American across the entire country (plus illegals, that's a new schtick he just picked up this year).

I would respect Bernie a million times more if he personally pushed for legislation that would bus illegals to Vermont, used Vermont dollars to feed them, house them, pay for their medical, dot the land with inefficient wind turbines and solar panels, provide free education and free healthcare to all citizens of Vermont, while increasing regulations, spending frivolously, and generally taxing the ever loving shit out of his constituents and local businesses.

Hell I'd respect him if he implemented even one of these ideas in his own backyard. But in 30 years he hasnt. But sure, let's beleive him when he says this can work across the entire country. From Florida to Alaska. New England to California.
