Bernie Sanders' 'housing for all' plan aims to add millions of homes — and a rent cap

Buddy I said people should be skeptical of people like yourself because for one reason or another anyone who thinks that myopically about housing policy has an agenda if only an ideological one. I didn't call you a shill, so don't put words in my mouth if you don't want to give away you're arguing in bad faith.

  1. If you're going to claim after the fact you're citing the LAO, you should, um, link to it chief. I'm not googling your argument for you.

  2. You've misunderstood the scope of the LAO. This summarizes their purview. They cover the fiscal and economic impact of local government decision-making and therefore things like land use and its effects get examined, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have a holistic view of housing policy. Consequently you're not going to see reporting from them on rent control. There was an exception for Prop 10...because it's a proposition so it's effects. This was their report on that, and it's largely positive. So, again, you don't know what you're talking about because you obviously cherry-picked their reporting.

  3. Finally, I know "not all YIMBYs" have a disdain for tenant protections but if your reaction to me saying "hey actually you're only half right", you put words in my mouth accusing you of being a shill. I just think you're indulging in selective reasoning for whatever reason. Hence the use of "skeptical".
