No doubt, the fight coming down the Biden and Bernie this rapidly will mobilize both casual Biden supporters and Casual Bernie supporters to getting off their ass to actually vote to save their guy. I could literally fucking pray that for this country and this planet that enough casual Bernie supporters show up this time.
If Biden wins, Trump probably wins. If Trump wins, climate change will accelerate and worsen. No, the world won't end in 12 years, but that's our timeline to curb emissions to stop a catastrophic 5 degree increase. That's if emissions don't continue to rise. With Trump, they'll rise. Assuming we get someone sane in office in 2024 I don't know if there will be anything they can do.
With 5C, you're looking at, within almost every on this damn site's lifetimes, total global societal collapse. Cops die, sea levels rise, large swaths of farmland become uncultivable, the ocean acidifies, and western markets lose confidence in everything while every other country's already stressed infrastructure crumbles first.
