Besides masturbate, what is the most fun thing to do at home for less than $10?

3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, 3 large eggs, 1 1/2 cups sugar, two oranges (yields 2 tablespoons of orange zest). If you had most of these ingredients on hand, you can also afford 1 cup of slivered almonds. If not... sell some blood. You want the slivered almonds. Trust me.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, whisk flour, salt and baking powder together and set aside. Whisk butter and orange peel together. You hopefully have an electric mixer for this - if not... your arms are gonna hurt! Gradually add the sugar to the butter/orange mix, then once well blended, add in 2 eggs, one at a time. Then add the dry ingredients and stir until you have a nice even dough.

Do you have the almonds!? Go steal them if you have to! Throw them into the bowl with the dough, and let your inner child out as you knead them with your bare hands. So gratifying! Split the dough into two equal parts, and roll them out into 2 15 inch logs. Butter and flour a baking sheet, and drop those babies side by side onto it. Then take that last egg and beat that bastard. Call it names too, if it'll make you feel better. Paint the logs with the egg, and then drizzle sugar on them. Just enough sugar to be wet from the egg, but still visible on the log.

Bake those logs for about 30 minutes until they are nice and golden and firm, then let them cool for 10 minutes. Drop your oven temp down to 325, and cut those logs into 1/2 inch slices. This shit should start looking familiar now. We are making biscotti from scratch. Hells yeah!

Put the slices on their sides and bake for about 8 minutes, then flip them and bake another 5 minutes. You should now have enough biscotti to kill diabetics and heart patients. If you are a crazy mofo, dip those babies in chocolate. Otherwise, power up a nice cup of coffee or tea, and sit back and stuff your face with some of the best tasting crap you've ever made. And try not to think about the amount of butter you are consuming.
