Here’s what I did that maybe could help you. I have a Ford Fusion and I like the paint so I choose to get a hitch and a bike platform. The hitch receiver was like $97 on Amazon and the bike platform was $329, it is a saris freedom. I installed the hitch myself and it was insanely easy for me. I wanted everything to be more secure, both the bike on it and someone trying to steal the rack at the trail head, and I didn’t want the bike to move around and possibly have the front wheel hit my trunk. So I decided on a platform vs hanging style rack. So far I like it beside the side to side away of the rack but I’m in the process of fixing that.
