Best book for mechanics course?

Well apparently others will have you believe that Landau and Lifshitz will be helpful. I encourage you to check those out since they are available for free on many book share webpages. By all means, have a peek and let me know how great of a book it is. Assuming you’d like a different reference, I learned from a book called Analytical Mechanics by Fowles and Cassiday, but didn’t think it was really fantastic but it really wasn’t too bad. A very popular undergrad physics book is Classical Dynamics of Particles and Systems by Marion and Thornton, also pretty good but some frustrating points. I think the Thornton book has a solutions manual out there which can be helpful.
