Thank you for your explanation. Letting the tax tail wag the dog is something to be cautious about, for sure. It’s not the very top priority of mine either, but it does need to be pointed out that REITs should only be held in tax advantaged space for high income earners, using taxable for investments that only produce qualified gain and dividends. I agree with you, in that the lower tax brackets don’t necessarily have as much to worry about.

My comment about dividend heavy strategies for this sub was more directed to all the other posts I’ve seen. Dividends aren’t magical. They’re a taxable event that we don’t get to control. They don’t make one wealthier as the share price of the stock is reduced by dividend paid. They’re neutral to slightly negative (due to taxes). Total return is what investors should focus on, they can then create their own dividends when its best for them - but that requires input, choosing a dividend strategy is an easier path, but not optimal.
