Best solution to knife & gun crime I’ve heard. Prevention rather than cure – get to them when young. Bring back youth clubs & help them get a job to stay off the streets. Anyone under 30 is automatically involved, even if not in a gang. People carry a weapon for protection. No to stop &

Is it not possible to place blame on the individual alongside social failings?

The person who takes a knife and sinks it into the flesh of another human is obviously, without a doubt, responsible for their own actions and should be held responsible just as any other person would be, regardless of background. I don't think anyone is suggesting we should give people a lesser sentence or punishment for stabbing and killing someone.

But equally, when the problem is so out of hand within a certain demographic in a certain area, there is more at play than an individual's decision to stab someone. It's been shown time and time again that wider social support massively reduces this issue, why would we as a civilised society not want to do that.

A person who stand and kills another person is a cunt, no excuses can be made for them and they deserve full punishment. But still, is it not better to prevent that person stabbing someone in the first place...
