I moved to Calgary with no friends here not long after I graduated, so it was tricky. I found what worked was sports, indoors or outdoors, ones that you enjoy. I can socialize and get in some exercise. Look around for clubs that align with your interests.

I found I met people outdoor rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, snowboarding, combat sports, etc.

I also weirdly found doing research in the tech space in my spare time, I was able to meet people I really enjoyed being around the most. Perusing a hobby you really enjoy, even if it makes no sense on how exactly you will meet people seems to work well.

It took me meeting a few hundred people before I found a friend that I really clicked with, but that is okay. At least that is how it goes for me.
