if only it were just best western... motels are pretty seedy places in general. most will look the other way for prostitution because they're glad to have paying customers. many will look the other way for human trafficking and forced prostitution for the same reason

i know someone who sadly went through something just like this as a kid, except for a shorter period of time - https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/motel-human-trafficking-lawsuit_us_58c801c0e4b0598c6699be92

her physical treatment was about as bad as you can imagine. she was lucky to escape with her life. she has scar tissue from the ordeal that still gives her trouble, and she still wakes up many times a night, every night from violent nightmares. the guy who abducted her walked free for lack of evidence. motel workers had ignored her screams throughout her ordeal, and claimed they didn't see or hear anything in court. it was his word against hers, which isn't enough for a conviction.

knowing her story, it actually pisses me off when i see MRAs talk about how a mere accusation can ruin someone's life. it's really hard to get a conviction for rape, and that's if the victim is brave enough to come forward in the first place, risking retaliation from the criminal and having to endure a lawyer tearing them apart in court and trying to make them look and feel like a lying piece of shit. it also pisses me off to see MRAs act like an acquittal is proof the victim made everything up. and it pisses me off to see them rage at victims for not reporting fast enough... actually it just kind of pisses me off in general the way MRA seems to stand for Male Rapist's Advocate half the time. but i digress

i hope the soulless fuck of a motel owner in the story i linked loses the case and is penniless for the rest of his life
