Best and Worst Parts of your specialty!

I appreciate your desire to choose an ideal speciality. However, is not the way to go about it. First off, your questions, and therefore the responses, are gross oversimplifications. You will, for the most part, get neither honest nor comprehensive answers. The few honest answers you get will be by people who love everything about their speciality (unrealistic) or have had a bad day/week/life and want to complain (no judgement to those in this camp). Also, it is generally inadvisable for physicians to discuss their salaries in a public forum. Very little good, if any, can come from it a public discussion of compensation. My advice to you and everyone reading this is to keep your compensation and vacation to yourselves. It is only used as a weapon by those who wish to employ physicians and those who wish to replace us.

You would do well to keep an open mind in medical school and pick the specialty that you find most interesting and compatible with your personality. Compensation is not important. All types of physicians can make fantastic money with good business acumen and hard work.
