A Better Questionnaire: Find a fit Tradition-wise

Middle East (and Northern Africa) should be lumped with Europe, not (Subsaharan) Africa.

Kabbalah (and its various spellings) and Christian Mysticism are much closer to Europe than to Africa. Medieval Kabbalah was largely developed in Europe (Southern Spain), and its roots are in Mystic Hellenic Judaism, closely related to Hellenism/Platonism/Gnosticism. Esoteric Islam (Sufi, Ismailism) also has more links (and similarities) to those traditions than to anything else. Even Middle Eastern and North African polytheism (Egyptian, Sumerian, Phoenician) are mostly explored by Hermetic traditions (especially Crowley). Hermetics like to claim Egyptian and Hebrew authorship for everything, with the Tarot being purportedly written by Hermes/Thoth. Most medieval grimoires claim to be authored by Solomon, etc.
