Bf (28m) and I (25f) are about to go into long distance with a very uncertain future. Is it even worth trying?

Hey! I’m in a similar situation as you! I was an international law student in the UK as well, but ultimately decided to move back home to practise law. I am in the last months of my training contract and fully intend on moving back to the UK after I’m qualified as an associate.

I’m not going to lie, it’s going to be really hard trying to find jobs overseas as a lawyer. But it’s not impossible. It gets easier once you are fully qualified, and you should consider taking the QLTS after you are to make it easier to get a job in the UK! (That’s my plan at least.) I’m not sure what law you are planning to do, but if you are still deciding, corporate law will make it much easier to move around.

It sounds like your bf is British, so if you truly think he’s the one for you, and you will get married in the future, then that solves your visa problem as well. My partner is European, so we don’t have as much luck with Brexit.

I’m firmly of the belief that if you love someone, distance shouldn’t matter. (Luckily my partner does too!) It’s better to have tried and failed than to not try at all. Honestly our relationship is going as strong as ever and we even got married 3 months ago even though we are still long distance. We are trying hard to go to each other though. :)
