Since you're being serious. Telling someone their animal is ugly is giving your opinion, Right? Does that opinion help anyone? OP isn't shopping for a vanity animal. Cat isn't going to a beauty contest. What does OPs boyfriend get from putting down something OP loves, either he is someone who doesn't know social behaviour or he likes hurting OP by insulting something OP loves and cherishes.

Just because the cat can't understand doesn't mean it needs to be said. It's not like boyfriend said hey OP your cat looks overweight maybe focus on that. This opinion benefits no one.

But as I said, I was just making a joke. And the cat is gorgeous.
