Job Post

My company is looking for a full time thermal/mechanical engineer for a Fortune 25 company. The main focus would be a new product line of servers for the High Performance Computing (HPC) market.

The position replaces an engineer who is moving on, so as we wait for a new job description to be written I will post the skill set we are losing. If you believe you can fill this role in whole or if your skill set partially overlaps this and you would like to be considered then send me a message and get out in front of the job posting. I am not a HR person, so what's below is somewhat of a brainstorming session. Let me know if you are interested.

System Level Thermal Analysis

  • Ability to drive the system thermal design from the infrastructure perspective
  • Intimate knowledge of data center facilities and capabilities (i.e. what will a facility be able to supply in terms of air and liquid to cool my system)
  • Test plan development for large scale HPC cluster
  • Ability to drive a multi-functional thermal team to get results

Serviceability and Deployment

  • Willingness and ability to train field service personnel on installation, startup, and servicing procedures.
  • Good documentation skills to contribute to site preparation guides, service guides, and installation guides.
  • Customer facing: willing to travel world-wide and interface with demanding customers

System planning - ability to work with sales teams to help design HPC clusters based on the limitations of the specific site and the specification of the system. Occasional travel required here.

Familiarity with the HPC market: You will be counted on to study the HPC market and contribute to trade studies based on what is needed and what is available in the field.
