I completely understand the situation, I just think it’s completely inexcusable for anyone who no longer works for the government to have any government records of any kind.

Think about it, you’re done being president or VP. All you have to do is pack up your personal shit and leave.

You could probably even just send all your boxes of documents to NARA with a post-it note that says “Please go through this shit and send back whatever isn’t classified or government records. Thx.”

Or you could just go through them yourself. Once you’re out of office, you’re just a regular unemployed person and you certainly have some free time to sit down and go through your shit.

A former president or VP is just a regular citizen.
