Big Tech attacks UK plan to hold firms liable for harmful content - Online harms regulations says platform have duty of care to protect users

I believe in the USA the mainstream consensus emerging among both republicans and democrats is tech companies should get a choice. Accept full liability for everything posted to their platforms and lose their section 230 protections or don’t censor or shadow ban any speech that is legal under US law. The tech companies aren’t happy with that proposal either and seem to want to be impartial platforms not liable for the content on their platforms when it suits them and be publishers who get to decide what content they will and won’t allow when it suits them. Don’t know how this will end but they won’t get it both ways for much longer I shouldn’t think.
