Ever consider the fact that your job is not the norm?
Old people retire, new people move into their positions.
Most of my coworkers are in their early 20's now - I started at 25.
I should clarify - I wrote a ton of software that I now support.
I did a LOT of work - I spent my entire life learning a skill, and now I get to support things I've worked on.
Management doesn't understand what I do well enough to reasonably manage me - they're also just a few years older than me - enjoying their lives.
I think that people who don't immediately find something out of high school or college tend to delude themselves into thinking "it's impossible."
I went to college, but did 2 years at community college and paid for it while working retail for next to minimum wage.
I ran out of money and instead of taking out loans I got a job working nights at a gas station.
I worked nights for awhile until someone let me know there was a position at a software company - I went to my interview right after a night at my job with zero sleep.
I got a job doing data entry.
I have a GED - I should add that - a GED and 'some college' - community college mostly.
If a dude with a GED who was working nights at a gas station can be successful than wtf are you people with 300k in student loan debt doing?
Poverty is a trap.
I was making $8.25 an hour for 2 years - I fucked off for 4 years after high school and partied - doing next to nothing with my life.
If somebody like me can land something I refuse to believe that it's impossible for people who actually tried.
