Bill Watterson was ahead of his time.

She is free to resign.

Yes, she is. She is free to change her beliefs as well.

But, I think we should recognize that when people have strong beliefs, they should act in a manner consistent with them.

Do we really want government employees silently going away when the government wants them to do something they believe to be immoral?

Think about it. The government is dealing with homosexual unions in this issue, but the government does far more than that.

Do we really want people to resign and be silent?

what we do want is for government workers not to discriminate based on their religious beliefs.

The KY issue is somewhat specific to KY's laws, but it is not discrimination, at least, not in the same sense which has historically been defined.

It is a radical change in law imposed by the US Supreme Court.

This is too broad of a topic, if you lump everyone who disagrees with the government into this category you are saying that people can just do whatever they want and not only not face any penalty for it, but continue to collect a paycheck. The fact is, this woman was actively denying people their legal rights, that takes priority over her personal religious beliefs.

But it is not. The same principles apply. You cannot have different principles for people dealing with important moral issues.

The fact is, this woman was actively denying people their legal rights, that takes priority over her personal religious beliefs.

These legal rights are extremely new and radical. I think people are forgetting that the USA is not so unified in its support for these decisions. Many do not care really. They see it as a personal matter.
