Binged all 8 seasons of GOT for the first time over October, and while many characters suffer in season 7 & 8, Daenerys’ sudden twist to villain might be the worst thing ever..?

Everyone is so sure that the intent for Dany was to be the villain.

She is a complex character that does both good and bad things. Too much emphasis is put on her empty threats, not her actions.

If Dany (or say Theon, Tyrion, Arya, Jon, Brienne, Olenna, Stannis--all killers) was purely good, it wouldn't make for great story. Humans are complex.

Put the good and bad deeds of each GOT character next to each other; there will be very few that have a clean record. (Rickon, maybe?)

Someone in the thread said she murdered Doreah and Xaro by locking them in the vault. This was after they betrayed her, killing half of her group and stole her dragons. That was justice for her. Ned Stark kills a man in ep1 for leaving the Wall, ignoring the man's warnings about white walkers. That was justice for him. Morality is not black and white.

For me, I'm eager to see what GRRM will ultimately do with Daenerys (and everyone else).
