Bionx has hit a snag, and are reorganizing (good history on the issues)

The flange spacing is tough. You have a physical limitation between clearing a disc brake, a cassette, and still having enough clearance for a sizeable motor.. I can't fault them for pushing the limits and making clearance to do what they did, but it didn't come without drawbacks.

Naturally you could optimize that aspect of things better with a wider hub, that the industry is generally gravitating towards.

The freehub is simply not of good build quality, but my other issue with it is that your average shop could easily handle freehub service if they had simply allowed for it. It hobbles your product if you distribute through bike shops but then hinder their ability to provide support.
