Statistically yes minorities tend to be stopped at a much higher rate, they are also arrested at a much higher rate. However, minorities also have a much higher rate of gun violence, a much higher probability to be under the poverty line. They statistically also commit more crimes.

Now, viewing it that way, does that mean it's the cops fault for profiling "racially?" Or is there more to the reason those profiles exist.

I believe there are major race issues in the US but they go far beyond racial profiling by police. Does it exist, sure, some cops are horrible human beings. But if a statistic says your more likely to run into a minority while doing your job, than more than likely you're going to arrest more minorities as well.
