Hey amazing M4's, I have a request for anyone applying ortho. Commenting here because I don't think this deserves its own post.

I'm sure I'm not the only M3 in this situation, but my school has no home program and no M4s applying Ortho. Would one of you kind souls be willing to write-up a "So you want to apply Ortho" post?

I would be interested in hearing about: * VSAS applications * How many aways I should do and what types of programs they should be at * Timing of aways with regards to ERAS and interview season * How to excel on aways * When to take Step II (before vs. after aways) * Letters of Rec from aways (no home program) - how many ortho letters do I need and should I have non-ortho letters?

That's all I could come up with on a whim, but I'm sure there are lots of important things I am missing. It would really be a huge help to have some insight into this ridiculous process.
