'Black Panther' actor Chadwick Boseman dies at 43 after 4-year fight with colon cancer

I got you. It's frustrating that a lot of people seem to care more about trivial things than important things.

I guess I'd just say, the people doing the idolization here aren't the ones with the ability to fix homelessness or health issues. And I don't think one interferes with the other, necessarily. There's enough people in society with broad enough interests we have the resources for both.

People who get really obsessed with celebrities obviously aren't that healthy or using their time that wisely, but they are the minority. Mostly what fuels the fame and fascination is just a whole lot of people with casual or moderate interest in celebrities. Mass appeal, by definition. I think if we focused on trying to get those people to care a little bit more about the important stuff, that's a better strategy than condemning the extreme idolizers that are already a lost cause :D
