Black Pittsburgh artists respond to graffiti protest mural produced by white team

I think the jag off angle is totally the article’s fault. The first paragraph takes it upon itself to categorize the responses given as “upset.” —

“some local arts groups and activists are upset that the work was painted by white artists”

None of the people quoted said they were upset. On the contrary at least 2 specifically said they supported the message. Reading through what the people they quoted did say are all very valid points about double standards and how this project illustrates those double standards.

None of the people quoted were overly emotional, calling for it to be taken down, or wringing their hands. To categorize their responses as upset sets a tone that doesn’t accurately reflect the people they interviewed and the fault for that is on the newspaper (either the writer or whoever edited it in).
