Black screen after installing recent update from Windows

I think you are infected with hewlard packard.

huhuhuhu. Remove avg with avg remover, and do your own custom install of windows without all the HP malware.

Are you system restoring back to the bloatware ridden hewlard packard firmware? Albeit that shizzen may be UEFI just do an ahci/ide install of windows if you can't work uefi =) I'd use active killdisk to cleanse that hard drive, preferably in another system.

The one driver that you will most likely need and should have on hand, is simply the power driver. That tells your computer how much volts and watts it should be taking. Else it could reach zero percent battery and not charge.

I first learn windows 8.1 by buying a program called Acronis. Its really good at backing up your computer, though i haven't been able to make any bootable USB's from it i simply take out my hard drive that has a cloned save of my system on it, and i use acronis on another computer to rebirth that partition. Its really frustrating using diskpart and recovery methods to find your partitions and even after rewriting my boot.cfg a handfull of times id be at a loss to do it without google next to me again.

There isn't a whole heap one can end service wise in windows 8.1, but i have noticed that even on a ddr2 system with 8gb ram core2duo quad @ 3.6 with a 780i mobo and overkill gfx card it's not windows that slows the system down, its bottlenecks and malware. Windows 8.1 runs real clean. My windows 7 system was on lockdown service wise, and didn't run as smooth as stock standard 8.1. bf4 was almost playable at 30-80fps for me, gamebooster by razer can offer some insight on programs one can temporarily end and restart and all the scheduled tasks can be deleted, eventually though you will get to a point where your net disconnects, your sound dies, or something just as lame happens that you should just not even bother trying to find the problem and fix it.

On a fresh install, i install uninstall tool, ccleaner, malwarebytes disable windows defender and firewall via cmd prompt and in the programs them selves, i disable all scheduled tasks and remove all bundled store apps using powershell and "Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage" I then do my nvidia and realtek drivers, i then install acronis and save this.

The next steps i do and generally fluke it is, i cycle through windows updates selecting all the small ones such as security updates, i leave out internet explorer and windows defender updates out. And try and only reset once i have installed some of the major windows 8.1 updates that "Fix" Things. Every time I'm forced to reset i do another acronis save, and once all the updates are on and there is no software devices/random devices present i use ghostbuster from codeplex to remove all the ghosted devices run ccleaner, fix registry and save again. You can save directly to an external hard drive or an internal one if you have a usb to sata cable or a repurposed hard drive housing (SO handy).

I'll always backup steam games, and games on origin are copy pasta ble, its easy to google and locate the registry additions you need. I have them sometimes installed on a ram drive, a secondary pci ssd, or ssd (PCI lane permitting i am looking at getting a pci SSD there is limitations on 1150 socket and even on 2011 socket if you are quad/triple sli/xfire)

No real gains in bf4 or dayz having them installed on the windows partition but there is having a paging file and the games installed on an SSD, secondary or primary. Raid has no advantage in games but may help 7200/10000rpm hd's compete with an ssd. One just needs a good quad core to game at a high level, with no pci saturation and an i5/i7 with no front side bus bottle neck limiting everything. I've played bf4 on an octa xeon with 8 threads and 64 gb of ram just as well as a 3370k with 8gb of ram and shadow play active! Star citizen may change this. If the game is released in the next ten years.

Tangent town how are we. 8)
