Black Trans Woman Profiled by Hotel Arrested

I occupy the relatively uncommon position of being both a front desk supervisor - AJND being transgender. If they took a prepaid card and requested a copy of ID, my guess is that they a) wanted to use one one of the prepaid cards that feature "A Gift for You", "Valued Customer", or some other variant down at the bottom where normally you'd find the cardmember name.

Look of disgust? It's the midwest. The "looks of disgust" could be genuine (in which case shame on the FD agents should be ashamed and possibly fired - your job is to treat every guest and potential guest at your property with dignity and respect.) It could also be a gross exaggeration designed to draw in the sensitivity of media outlets like Huffington who adore these stories.

Hormones without a prescription? That means they were likely on what's called "DIY" hormones - basically, ordering hormones without a prescription from online pharmacies, usually overseas. Some trans people do pursue this route for hormone therapy, either because of a lack of medical providers who deal with trans issues in their areas (100% understanding of this - this was a problem for me for a while - so I drove four hours), or because they don't want to go through the medical establishment (major problem with this - doctors are there to monitor your progress. Hormones make major alterations to your biochemistry and you REALLY need to be medically supervised). That said, neither medication she would have been taking (estradiol, spironolactone) is DEA scheduled, (Testosterone is Schedule III due to potential use in sports as a steroid), Estrogen is unscheduled

There are red flags in this story that make me wonder. Most hotel workers are not that malicious, nor that willing to jump to "call the police". I've worked limited service, extended stay, and full service - if I've called law enforcement (and I have)), there's a more major issue going on every time. My gut instincts tell me there's some detail or details being left out of this story because it doesn't fit the narrative.
