Then you agree with me that the point of that story was that the boss was a douche and the guy was, at worst, socially inept, probably being made worse by being at a bar and imbibing alcohol. The entire thing with telling people to smile is situational, not universal. If a human (gender not required) is sad, but not involving family death, just sad in a general way trying to get someone to smile shouldn't be perceived as a bad thing.

Yes, some retards have co-opted that into a sluggish way to hit on people, but I'm just thinking that lumping every human that tries to get someone to smile in any way into that pile is a good way to take a good thought and go backwards.
