You aren't taking into consideration that the rate of arrests for violent crime was 3.6 times higher for black people than white people. Therefore blacks are actually underrepresented as victims of police killings, when you control for the number of encounters. So taking a knee to ask black men to stop committing crime so much would have been a more effective way of reducing police shootings. And of course the purpose of police is not to kill anyone, but that ignores completely the reality of the world. Unfortunately there are violent, homicidal criminals and these people sometimes try to kill the police too. What is the solution to dealing with these people?
