blog post: an explanation of Marx's theory of the "Tendency of the Rate of Profit to Fall" in the context of video game company Activision's recent mass layoffs

I think you're completely misunderstanding me on a couple levels here.

For one, I really only mention competition a few times at the beginning and that's really not what my post is about. Not really sure why you latched onto that so strongly.

Not only that, but in a larger context, when classical economists wrote about TRPF, they were ONLY writing about competition. Adam Smith thought that was the singular cause. When people talk about TRPF in an everyday, non-Marxist context, they are absolutely just talking about an effect of market competition.

Another thing you're misunderstanding, is my post wasn't supposed to be a summary of Marx's idea of TRPF, because there's literally 100s of blog posts online that do that. The post was explaining events in the context of TRPF.

And also, just in general the post is analysis... If I thought people should read Marx, I would've just said so.

I'm sorry man, but maybe consider that you aren't the smartest person ever, because you clearly didn't read my post thoroughly, latched onto a couple details you didn't like, then tried to act high and mighty.
