I was so sick of reading dreck, struggling through old books that I've read over and over. So I'm reading my favourite book of all time for the first time in three years, and reading it for the first time on a Kindle.

The Little Friend by Donna Tartt oh, how I love thee! I'm only about twenty pages in and I'm remembering why this is my (maybe?) tenth rereading. She writes her characters like no other author I know. Her description of the dynamic between two brothers hopped on meth, with one of the brothers slightly less affected is comedy gold.

Every sentence is a treat, she is such a beautiful writer! It annoys me to no end that people rave about The Secret History and The Goldfinch because The Little Friend is the best of her books imo.
