Blood & Bone: A Dark and Gritty Low Fantasy Tabletop Role-playing Game

I apologize for the confusion. The game is essentially two parts, first a d20 based resolution system, following in the footsteps of DnD, but decidedly geared towards gritty and realistic situations, as opposed to epic and heroic.

The, second part, and the majority of the book is the setting. The world of Blood and Bone, as a text will contain all the information you would expect from say, a DnD campaign setting, but in even greater depth. Hypothetically, one could use this detailed campaign setting for any system.

As for who the characters are, let me give you an example. Over the months of play testing one of the beta groups played as the leading officers in a mercenary troupe.

They started out as little more than bandits and ended up being conscripted as an auxiliary troupe for a wing of the Caroan army. They fought in battles, and after winning some renown on the front, spent time in a major city, where in being awarded certain honors, were entangled in court intrigue and political strife. One of the earlier sessions, when they were sent as a scouting party was even a horror session. The system is mechanically equipped to deal with combat, and some element of physical conflict is assumed.

That said, players could be scheming nobles, a caravan of merchants, or a gang of thieves. It is difficult to present a concept on Kickstarter that is not a neat trope (Zombies, Steampunk, Anime, etc).

Blood and Bone is a system for facilitating gritty and realistic narratives set in the world of Ossura. If d20-esque mechanics aren't your cup of tea, think of it as purchasing a campaign setting that involves a unique, low fantasy, human-centric setting grounded in history rather than myth.
