Another fellow Singaporean here; can help to answer these questions.

There aren't many gang-related violence here, and the more prominent murders are mainly personal feuds, etc robbery, finances related, love disputes.

As Singaporeans we have a culture of not caring and always try to stay out of other people's business, and many TV shows popularised the "don't stare at others" mentality, after a few gangsters murdered / slashed a few teenagers for "staring" at them. But ya, generally as "Asians", we were taught to mind your own businesses and try our best to avoid conflicts and confrontations.

And lastly, arms are very very prohibited in Singapore, such that even discharge of arms in public by the Police or Military are rare and usually heavily publicised. It is near impossible to even imagine anyone possessing a firearm (except those conscripted), so as such firearm violence is near zero. And back to my first answer, most of the murders are from strangulation, so as a rather inefficient murder technique, the possibility you will die from such attacks is low too.
