Explaining why societal shifts happen would take far too long, and to be honest I don't have enough information on the subject to be of much help to you.

I will say however that you should be careful with equating what happens, versus what is right.

If everyone in America "shifted" towards the position that all gay people should be murdered, I'm betting you would not be tempted to say, "See...society says gay people should be murdered, explain that shift."

I'm also not here to talk about the last two thousand years. I'm here to talk about how liberalism, and conservatism are applied today..in the modern world because that is what is relevant.

This whole issue isn't about liberalism or conservatism. I don't know why you people are trying to make it one.

Well, let's try to make it about race. notices that there are people of all colors protesting I guess that's out.

Hmm, I know. Let's make it about gender. Notices that there are people of both genders protesting.

Ha! I know! Let's make it about classism! Well, they are all attending a nice college, but I'm willing to bet many of them come from vastly different economical backgrounds so I guess that's out.

What about a religious issue? Again, I'm guessing it's a mixed bag.

The only thing left, is politics.

So yes, this is a political issue.

Liberals are entitled. More entitled than a vast majority of conservatives I've seen in similar veins.

I'm not making anything into anything, I'm surmising that the people in that crowd, all share one thing. An entitled, downtrodden "woe is me" attitude, aka a liberal mindset.

But I am open to facts. I'd love to be proven wrong.
